Laborer wanted for rape nabbed in La Union


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested a laborer wanted for rape and listed as the most wanted person in San Gabriel, La Union on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Col. Damian Olsim, Benguet police chief, identified the suspect as Sacpa Gum-oyen, 37.

Olsim said the suspect was arrested in his house in Sitio Cudalap, Barangay Bayabas at around 9:30 p.m. by the Benguet 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company on a warrant issued by Judge Rhea Sernadilla Gallevo of the Family Court Branch 10, First Judicial Region, San Fernando City, La Union.

The court recommended no bail for the suspect.

Gum-oyen allegedly raped a minor female who was alone twice on November 2009 in Sitio Cudalap.

A case was filed against the suspect after her parents found out about the sexual assault a few years later.
