Hot meals, psychological first aid provided to 'Karding' victims


The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) staff and volunteers provided hot meals and initial psychological first aid to individuals affected by super typhoon Karding in different parts of the country.

In a report on Monday, Sept. 26, PRC said that 500 individuals who temporarily sought shelter at Bagong Silangan Elementary School in Quezon City received noodles with eggs from PRC Quezon City Chapter.

Also, 147 stranded individuals at Manila North Harbour were given hot meals through PRC's Hot Meals on Wheels courtesy of the PRC Manila Chapter.

These passengers were bound to Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, Cagayan, Butuan, and Zamboanga but got stuck at the port due to heavy rains and wind brought by the super typhoon.

Moreover, PRC Quezon Lucena Chapter provided hot meals and initial psychological first aid to 38 evacuees in Infanta National High School in Infanta, Quezon.

Last Sunday, Sept. 25, PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon held a meeting together with staff and volunteers to assess and determine the needed assistance of super typhoon victims.

The organization is closely monitoring the situation and preparing for upcoming relief operations, said PRC.
