Classes suspended in Negros Occidental due to ‘Karding’


BACOLOD CITY – Majority of schools in Negros Occidental suspended classes on Monday, Sept. 26, due to typhoon "Karding."

Local government units (LGUs) announced the suspension of classes through their social media accounts late Sunday night, Sept. 25.

Classes on all levels in public and private schools were suspended in the cities of Kabankalan, Bago, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Victorias, Talisay, and Silay, and the towns of Hinoba-an, Ilog, La Castellana, E.B. Magalona, Binalbagan, Cauayan, Murcia, Hinigaran, Isabela, Valladolid, Candoni, Pulupandan, Pontevedra, and Manapla.

Classes in Kindergarten to Grade 12 and Alternative Learning System (ALS) in public and private schools and classes in elementary and high school in public and private schools in Sipalay City were also suspended.

Some schools here also suspended classes on Monday.

In Cauayan, Negros Occidental, some families in Barangays Caliling and Inayawan were evacuated on Sunday due to flooding from Karding’s heavy rains.

These families returned to their houses when the water subsided on Monday.
