MABITAC, Laguna – Almost half of the municipality remained submerged in knee-deep floodwaters on Monday, Sept. 26, following the wrath of Typhoon Karding.
Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction And Management Office (MDRRMO) Head Manny Artitchea told the Manila Bulletin that seven out of Mabitac's 15 barangays were inundated.
As of 1:00 p.m., flood levels in most barangays have lowered by a few inches, making the roads passable to vehicles.
On Sept. 25, the local government unit evacuated 116 families or 407 individuals from high-risk areas.
Around 57 families or 196 individuals temporarily stayed with relatives as the typhoon lashed Luzon.
Mabitac's agricultural sector suffered damages estimated at P3.4 million.
Rice farming is one of the main industries in the municipality situated along the coast of Laguna de Bay.
