Valenzuela gov't cancels Covid-19 vax activities due to super typhoon 'Karding'


The Valenzuela City government cancelled all Covid-19 vaccination activities in the city on Sunday, Sept. 25, as a precautionary measure for heavy rains due to the super typhoon Karding.

As of 8 a.m. on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed some cities in Metro Manila - Pasig, Marikina, Quezon City, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Manila, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (Camanava) - and other neighboring provinces under tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) number 3.

The rest of the cities in Metro Manila were placed under TWCS No. 2.

According to PAG-ASA, Karding has reached super typhoon category after with a maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour.

The local government said Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie "Wes" Gatchalian will have a meeting with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council regarding the preparations and precautionary measures for the heavy rains.
