The city government of San Juan on Sunday, Sept. 25, announced the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools, and work in government offices tomorrow, Sept. 26, 2022, due to super typhoon “Karding.”
Departments and offices involved in disaster and emergency response are exempted, it added.
In a separate post on Sunday, Sept. 25, San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora also assured that it has already started preparing for the potential impact of the super typhoon.
“Mga minamahal kong San Juaneño, maging handa po tayo sa pagdating ng Typhoon Karding ngayong araw (My beloved San Juaneños, let's be prepared for the arrival of Typhoon Karding today),” Zamora wrote.
The local chief executive said he is already coordinating with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and all the city departments involved in disaster response as well as the San Juan Police, San Juan Bureau of Fire Protection, and barangay officials for the safety of the citizens.
The San Juan Gym will also be used as the main evacuation center in case there is an increase in water in the city, Zamora said.
He added that the city's pumping stations are also ready.
Metro Manila cities were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 due to super typhoon Karding by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.
