Manila suspends classes on Sept. 26 due to super typhoon 'Karding'


The city government of Manila announced the suspension of classes in both public and private schools on Monday, Sept. 26, due to super typhoon “Karding.”

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Sept. 25, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said both online and face-to-face classes are suspended.

Work at the Manila City Hall is also suspended but departments and offices involved in disaster and emergency response shall remain operational.

Private companies’ suspension will be at the discretion of their employers, it added.

Meanwhile, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and other concerned city departments are also now on red alert.

The city government also said declogging operations are ongoing to mitigate flooding in the city as well as pre emptive evacuation for residents in coastal areas.

It also assured that other evacuation centers are being prepared.

Health centers in the city are also open for any eventuality.

Manila was among the cities placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 due to super typhoon "Karding" as per the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday.
