The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported Sunday, Sept. 25 the start of the construction of three multi-purpose buildings that will complement the operation of the Bacolod City General Hospital.
In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie Bueno said that the city health complex will be built on a 1.7-hectare lot in Barangay Vista, Bacolod City and includes the construction of a 16-meter access road and four buildings.
She explained that the construction of the Bacolod City General Hospital being the main building will be implemented by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6, while the three support buildings will be constructed by her office.
With an allocation of P200 million, the project consists of a two-storey dietary building, laundry building and morgue building with a total floor area of 1,558 square meters.
The new buildings will serve as additional facilities that will meet the healthcare needs of local communities in the city and the province of Negros Occidental, increase employment opportunities for the health sector and offer a more affordable and accessible healthcare system. (Chito A. Chavez)
