Cardona LGU evacuates 6 families, other Rizal LGUs activate disaster teams for 'Karding'


Six families or 27 individuals have been sent to an evacuation center in Barangay Dalig in Cardona, Rizal as a preemptive measure by the Cardona local government due to super typhoon "Karding."

The Cardona Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the six families are from Sitio Pulong Dalig, in Barangay Dalig whose houses are located along the lakeshore of Laguna Lake.

MDRRMO personnel Ederina Reyes said the evacuees have been attended to by the barangay social workers at the Dalig Evacuation Center.

Meanwhile, the municipal government of Binangonan has alerted its local disaster management teams in the barangays to implement evacuation and emergency measures, according to Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares.

Cardona and Binangonan are two out of ten municipalities in Rizal that are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3.

In San Mateo, the local government has set-up barangay incident command posts for easy emergency response, as per the town’s information office.

In Antipolo City, which was placed under Signal No. 4, moderate to heavy rains were felt as of 3 p.m. Residents in Barangay San Roque noted some fog in their areas as of 3:30 p.m.
