BAGUIO CITY – The City Health Service Office has reported that Omicron is the continuing dominant variant of Covid-19, accounting for 65 percent of the cases here as of Monday, Sept. 12.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong here urged residents not to be complacent as long as the threat of Covid continues.
"Although we are in a low risk status in the case of Covid, we will still maintain the minimum health protocols, get vaccinated so that let this pandemic disappear.”
During the city council health committee's regular meeting, City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Galpo said Delta variant affected 20 percent of cases, followed by Alpha and Beta strains affecting 10 and five percent of infected individuals, respectively.
Among the Omicron sub-variants, according to Galpo, BA.5 is the most dominant at 63 percent; B.1.1.529, 35 percent; and the BA.2.12.1 and BA 4 sub-variants at one percent each.
However, Galpo said the city continues to be in low risk, Level 1 status, with a drop in the two-week positivity rate from 6.71 percent to 5.19 percent and a decrease in the average daily attack rate of 6.5 to 2.6 per 100,000 population as of Saturday Sept. 17.
