The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) said that it will continue to cover Covid-19 test for returning overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs).
In its advisory No. 2022-0026, the agency said that during a recent special meeting, it "approved the continuing coverage of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19 virus) testing for all returning OFWs." This was in accordance with the resolution of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), PhilHealth said.
"PhilHealth acknowledges the important role of our returning overseas Filipino workers," said PhilHealth Officer-in-Charge Eli Dino Santos in a statement.
The agency said that "specific guidelines through a Circular will be released soon, with retroactive effect to Aug. 31, 2022."
PhilHealth covers plate-based RT-PCR tests from P800 to P2,800 and cartridge-based PCR from P500 to P2,450.
This Covid-19 testing can be availed at any of the 230 accredited laboratories nationwide, it added.
