LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A cauldron of Pancit Lucban was cooked on-site at the launching of the food festival at the SM City Lucena here on Friday, Sept. 23.
The Quezon Tourism Office headed by Nestler Louise Almagno, Tourism Organization of Quezon president Sheila Talaga, and Kristy Vilela of South 4 Group Marketing opened the event that seeks to support economic and tourism development of Quezon.
Talaga said the event is the perfect venue to showcase food and dishes found only in Quezon, including the “buding” or cassava cake of Tayabas City, Longganisang Lucban, “nilupak” (mashed cassava), and “chami” (tasty noodle dish) of Lucena City.
The local ritual of “tagayan” or toast of “lambanog” or coconut wine was led by former Tourism Organization of Quezon president Tina Decal.
Forty kilos of Pancit Lucban was cooked and consumed by tourism students.
Almagro assured the Tourism Organization of Quezon of the provincial government's support for their projects promoting local products and delicacies.
