DITO passes 3rd performance audit


The country's newest telco player, DITO Telecommunity has passed the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)'s third performance audit, exceeding its commitment in terms of network coverage and internet speeds.

“DITO expressed satisfaction with the recent advice from the NTC that it has passed the third technical audit as required in the CPCN (Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity),” according to DITO Telecommunity chief administrative officer Adel Tamano, in a statement issued Thursday night, September 22.

“We continue to abide by -- and even exceed -- our commitments to government to improve speed and coverage in the telco sector and bring real competition for the benefit of Filipino consumers,” he reiterated.

NTC notified DITO that it has passed the mandated technical review in September 8, 2022,

The newest telco registered a national population coverage of 72.39 percent versus its commitment of 70.01 percent, according to the findings of NTC's independent auditor, R.G. Manabat & Co.

Furthermore, DITO delivered minimum average broadband speeds of 71.77 megabits per second (mbps) for 4G and 801.19 mbps for 5G, versus its commitment of 55 mbps in its third year.

Last month, DITO reached its growth target of 12 million subscribers, four months earlier than its initial year-end target.

The telco has aggressively rolled out its network, building over 5,500 cellular towers todate to serve more than 600 cities and municipalities throughout the archipelago.
