160 families lose homes in Zamboanga City fire


ZAMBOANGA CITY - Some 160 families lost their homes in a fire that broke out in Barangay Recodo, Zamboanga City at around noontime on Thursday, Sept. 22.

Structures damaged during a conflagration in Zamboanga City on Thursday, September 22, where 160 families were rendered homeless.  

A certain Boysar Common was injured during the incident.

A Bureau of Fire Protection report said that about 80 houses, including that of the barangay captain’s, were burned.

The fire started at 11:23 a.m. and reportedly emanated from an undisclosed house. The fire quickly spread throughout the single, multi-story dwellings made of light and semi concrete materials.

Fire reached the third alarm before it was put out at around 2 p.m.

The value of damages were initially estimated at P500,000. Fire investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.

The affected families were temporarily sheltered at the Barangay Recodo covered court.
