Municipal execs to hold directorate meeting, national election

The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) will hold its first national directorate meeting for term 2022 to 2025 from Sept. 29 to 30 at the Metrotent Convention Center in Pasig City, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

DILG Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. issued Memorandum Circular No. 2022-117 urging the provincial governments to allow the LMP chapter presidents to attend the activity upon the request of LMP interim president and Narvacan Mayor Luis ‘Chavit’ Singson.

Abalos reminded the attending local officials and concerned parties on the provisions of DILG MC No. 2018-25 dated feb. 28, 2018 which prohibits them to enter, stay and gamble in the casinos.

“The payment of the applicable travel expenses and registration fee, if any, to defray the cost of hotel accommodation, meals and conference materials, per participant, may be authorized, chargeable against local government funds, in accordance with and subject to applicable limitations prescribed in COA Circular No. 2012-003 dated Oct. 29, 2012,’’ the memo read.

Further, Abalos pointed out that the LMP national president shall submit a post-activity report to him through the director of the Bureau of Local Government supervision within 15 days after the completion of the assembly.

The post-activity report should follow the format of the executive brief, list of participants, outputs of technical sessions, issues and agreements or recommendations if there are any, total fees and disbursements and appendices.

In compliance with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) guidelines, Abalos noted that health and safety protocols in the holding of public events should be observed, consistent with the alert level status of the host local government unit (LGU) and date of the activity.
