UST joins ‘PinasLakas’ campaign; to mount one-day vax site for Thomasians

In hopes of strengthening the country’s protection against Covid-19, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) joined the national government’s nationwide booster campaign.

UST, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH), the Manila City Health Department, and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, will be mounting a one-day Covid-19 booster drive for Thomasians, staff, and their dependents.

As stated in The Varsitarian, UST’s official student publication, this booster site will be mounted at the UST Practice Gym on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The initiative, on the other hand, is in line with the DOH’s nationwide booster campaign regarded as “PinasLakas,” which is aiming to improve the country’s vaccine programs towards a “safer nation.”

PinasLakas was initially launched in July 2022. Since the day it was launched, DOH has sought the help of local government units (LGUs), schools, malls, plazas, and places of worship in building accessible vaccination sites.

UST has yet to release nor disclose their target inoculation rate for the aforementioned booster drive. It later told the Manila Bulletin that they will still “verify” the said information.

Students, University staff, as well as their dependents who will be willing to get boosted were likewise instructed to “reserve” their booster dose through online registration and email confirmation until Sept. 19.
