Department of Tourism (DOT) Sec. Christina Garcia Frasco has assured equal opportunity for Mindanao in promoting tourism development and economic recovery.
Frasco met with Department of National Defense (DND) OIC-Secretary Jose Faustino, Jr. on Sept. 16 to discuss the DOT’s campaign to open up the Mindanao region to tourism promotion.
This is part of the President’s vision to expand tourism development and promotion to all parts of the country, according to Frasco.
Frasco and Faustino tackled possible collaborations in tourism development, and opportunities to spur economic recovery in Mindanao.
They have also undertaken talks on looking at the long-term generational impact and inclusive growth of the tourism industry after the successful peace and order campaign in the region.
“Following the President’s desire to ensure that no tourist destination gets left behind, we are eager to partner with the Department of Defense especially in ensuring that Mindanao is given equal opportunity for economic livelihood, recognizing as well the importance of peace and security as the foundation of progress,” said Frasco.
