Zendaya makes Emmy history wearing a black piece by Valentino


The custom dress is crafted after a Valentino’s fall-winter ‘87-88 red dress

Zendaya channels a timeless glamor at the Emmys 2022. Clad in a black custom dress by Valentino, the 26-year-old actress makes history as the first black woman to win the Emmy for a leading role in a drama series twice, as announced by the Italian fashion house’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

According to Piccioli’s post, the black satin dress was crafted after a red number featured in Valentino’s fall-winter ‘87-88 line. The resignified dress showcases the same modified sweetheart neckline and bow belt only with a much fuller skirt. Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, styled the look with Bulgari’s high jewelry necklace in white gold with over 17 carats of diamonds.

“Again and always is the human that wears the dress that makes the dress a moment,” Piccioli posted. “Z you are the moment, and I am proud and happy and thankful for being there, somehow, with you.”

Zendaya won her second Emmy through her performance as Rue in the HBO series “Euphoria.” She became the youngest actress to win the Emmys’ lead actress in a drama series award when took it home in 2020. In 2021, she became the youngest-ever CFDA Fashion Icon Award winner.
