Hanging bridge connecting remote villages in Iloilo town inaugurated

ILOILO CITY -- A 35-meter hanging bridge that could create tourism activities in Igbaras town, Iloilo province has been inaugurated recently.

The P2.6-million hanging bridge funded by the Iloilo provincial government leads to the far-flung Igcabugao village.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and Igbaras Mayor Vicente Escorpion Jr. led the inauguration of the hanging bridge that would enable the local residents to cross the Igbolo River even during bad weather.

Defensor said Igcabugao can be a tourist destination because of its proximity to waterfalls and mountain range. It will in turn generate income for local communities.

“Let’s help them with the sources so that we can help the residents and the private sector also in the tourism industry,” said Defensor.

The bridge will not only benefit residents of Igcabugao village, but also those from neighboring villages of Cale, Indaluyon, Passi, and Pinaopaoan.
