Muntinlupa LGU makes pedestrian lanes with pencil design near schools

The Muntinlupa City government has started repainting pedestrian lanes near schools with a different and innovative design as a reminder to students and drivers.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the pedestrian lanes near schools are being done with a pencil design.

“Pencil design ang pedestrian lanes na malapit sa schools. Gusto nating habang maaga, maunawaan ng mga Batang Munti ang responsibilidad natin sa kalsada, simula sa pagtawid sa tamang tawiran (We used pencil design on pedestrian lanes near schools. We want our Batang Munti to understand at a young age their responsibility on roads, from crossing the streets using the pedestrian lane),” the mayor posted on Facebook.

Biazon said the repainting of pedestrian lanes started in public schools as these have big student populations “and the shifting means there are several surges of students going to and from the schools.”

As of Aug. 21, the enrollment in public schools in Muntinlupa reached 79,969 and 20,094 in private schools for a total of 100,063.
