The bloodletting activities organized by the 7th Infantry Kaugnay Division of the Philippine Army, the Philippine General Hospital, Department of Health (DOH)-Philippine Blood Center (PBC), and SM Foundation Incorporated at the SM City Marilao in Bulacan have collected a total of 143 units of blood.
Civil-Military Operations Officer Romel Jordan said that their bloodletting activity on Sunday, Sept. 11, themed "Dugong Alay ng Kaugnay, Dugtong ng Inyong Buhay" in partnership with the Philippine General Hospital and Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay Incorporated, aimed to increase the supply and find donors who could donate blood for needy soldiers.
"We wanted to ensure the availability of blood for our soldiers,” he said.
Jordan also thanked the donors who gave 66 units of blood to the 7th Infantry Kaugnay Division of the Philippine Army.
The blood donation drive of the DOH-PBC at the SM City Marilao on Sept.7 to 8 also collected a total of 77 units of blood from the donors.
"We are thankful to SM as well as the support of its employees, tenants, and affiliates. Our continuous blood donation awareness activities in the mall evoked overwhelming response from the common public, especially young people,” DOH-PBC blood donor recruitment officer Jerick Laxamana said.
Gladyz May S. Latiza said the blood donation drive at SM is in support of Republic Act No. 7719, the National Blood Services Act of 1994, which encourages and promotes voluntary blood donation to provide a sufficient supply of safe blood.
