251 ex-rebels in Bukidnon get over P13-M financial assistance


A total of 251 communist rebels received P13.8 million worth of assistance from the government through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) after their surrender, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) disclosed on Monday, Sept. 12.

DILG-10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said he ECLIP package includes immediate assistance of P15,000, livelihood assistance of P50,000, reintegration assistance of P21,000, firearms remuneration, half-way house assistance.

Pursuant to Administrative Order No. 10, series of 2018, the ECLIP provides a complete package of assistance to former rebels as well as their immediate family members who have expressed their desire to abandon armed struggle.

Agabe said four firearms were turned over to the ECLIP Committee for cost valuation by the Philippine National Police (PNP). In cases when the firearm can no longer be used, it will have no corresponding monetary value.

One of those who surrendered, a certain Ka Armando said he will be able to support his family through farming from the livelihood assistance package he received.
