PH Army seeks community’s help, drops leaflets containing wanted man info in Negros town

BACOLOD CITY -- The 79th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army dropped hundreds of leaflets through a helicopter in the remote villages of Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Sept. 10, to seek the community's help for the immediate capture of a wanted personality tagged behind the killing of two victims in the town last month.

The leaflets contained information about Roger Fabillar alias ‘Arnel Tapang’ or ‘Jhong,’ who the Army and the police have earlier identified as one of the seven suspects in the killing of Rodel Nobleza on Aug. 7 and Renato Estrebillo on Aug. 12, both in Barangay Marcelo, and Barangay Lalong Captain Benjamin Javoc who was killed on Aug. 26.

On Sept. 5, the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command – Northern Negros Guerilla Front of the NPA (RJPC-NPA) admitted that they were behind the killings.

A cash reward of P300,000 was offered by the local government unit to anyone who could give information that will lead to the arrest of Tapang.

Lt. Col. J-jay Javines, commander of the 79th IB, encouraged everyone to continuously support their campaign against the NPA.

“Your information and cooperation are vital to us,” Javines said.

The 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing of the Philippine Air Force provided a Huey helicopter for the purpose.
