The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) gave emphasis on the importance of proper first aid training in line with the celebration of World First Aid Day 2022 on Saturday, Sept. 10 with the theme, "Lifelong First Aid."
"Kapag may training ka sa first aid, may lakas ng loob ka rumesponde kapag may emergency, na maaaring mangyari sa mga oras na kasama mo ang iyong pamilya, mga kaibigan, o mga ka-opisina (If you have training for first aid, you have more confidence to respond at emergecies that could happen when you are with your family, friends, or officemates)," PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon said in a statement.
World First Aid Day is celebrated every 2nd Saturday of September.
PRC reminded that emergencies such as falling from high places, choking, and poisoning can happen anywhere and a trained first aider has the capability to save the life of the person in danger.
"The first four minutes of an emergency is a critical period; if action is taken, the patient has higher chances of survival," PRC said.
The humanitarian organization has given first aid training to over 58,000 individuals from January until the first two weeks of September 2022.
Training courses such as standard "First Aid Training and Basic Life Support/CPR - AED Training, Occupational First Aid Training and Basic Life Support/CPR - AED Training, and Emergency First Aid Training," were given as per PRC.
