This was announced on Friday, Sept. 9, by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Region 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno said the project cost reached P72 million which involved asphalt overlaying with the provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings.

“Asphalt overlay restores the smoothness and improves driving surface during travel, while pavement markings and solar studs enhance roadway delineation and improve visibility to prevent road accidents,” said Bueno.

He added locals and visitors will now get better access to prominent tourist destinations in the neighboring provinces of Capiz and Aklan with the completion of the road project.

The project was implemented by the DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office and it was funded under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Regular Infrastructure Program.
