"This digital capacity building training aims to develop Manide students and youth leaders as responsible digital citizens," said NCIP Labo Service Center in a Facebook post.

On the 1st day of training held on Sept. 6, the students were thought about the definition of terminologies used in computers, types of computers, computer hardware and software, uses of computers, and basic computer operation.

While on the 2nd day held on Sept. 7, basic computer commands and navigations, computer risks and threats, and proper ways of securing computers were discussed with the Manide students and youth leaders.

The students, who are members of the Manide youth cultural community, are from the Municipality of Paracale.

The training sessions were facilitated by Aileen Rillon and Rodolfo Ramos III from DICT with the assistance of Fermin Harry P. Malaluan Jr, Nurse II from NCIP Labo Service Center.

It was held at the Camarines Norte Provincial Library and Tech4Ed Center in Daet, Camarines Norte.

Last July 18 to 22, 35 Aeta youths also attended a digital literacy program headed by the DICT in Porac, Pampanga.

The same set of topics were discussed with the goal of narrowing the “gap of the digital divide” and giving the Aeta youths a chance to become proficient in technology, said DICT.
