Police class celebrates fifth year by building facility for elementary school in Kalinga


TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – Policemen from the Liyab Diwa Class 2017-02 assigned to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office turned over a newly constructed, two-door comfort room at the Basao Elementary School in Barangay Basao here on Monday, Sept. 5, in celebration of their fifth anniversary in the service.

The facility was built through the 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company’s best practice project “Kabadang” and the 2nd KPMFC’s emerging best practice project “Manfaruwan.”

Sixty-seven pupils in the school will benefit from the project which has a faucet for handwashing.

Class members chipped in money to construct the facility which started on July 27 and finished in time on Sunday, Sept. 4, with the help of officials of Barangay Basao, parents and teachers headed by Linda Owar, members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo Basao chapter, Kaligkasan Warrior of the 2nd KPMFC, Tinglayan police, Tinglayan local government, the religious sector, and other stakeholders.

A community outreach program where groceries with 10 kilograms of rice were given to 10 indigent families who are mentally challenged individuals and Persons with Disabilities, feeding activity benefitting children and constituents, and three big packages of used clothes for children were distributed, was also held.

Meanwhile, guided by the peace and security framework “MKK=K” or the “Malasakit, Kaayusan, Kapayaan tungo sa Kaunlaran” and Kasimbayanan program, the class conducted a lecture on salient features of Republic Act 7610 and RA 10627, the Anti-Bullying and Anti-Child Abuse law, respectively, and conducted and house-to-house visitation.

The Liyab Diwa Class 2017-02 thanked stakeholders who helped and worked together to carry out the project. They also thanked residents who also helped and gave time for the construction of the comfort room.
