Lady soldier hurt in Zamboanga City collision


ZAMBOANGA CITY – A female military personnel was injured after a passenger bus crashed into a three-wheel vehicle and a motorcycle parked on the highway in Barangay Upper Calarian here on Monday, Sept. 5.

A THREE-wheel vehicle and a motorcycle incurred heavy damage after it was rammed by a passenger bus in Zamboanga City on Monday, Sept. 5.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City police chief, identified the victim as 49-year-old Sgt. Rowena G. Fargas, a member of the Philippine Army assigned to the 54th Engineering Brigade.

Fargas was on board her motorcycle when it was hit by the bus. She sustained injuries and was brought to the Camp Basilio Navarro Hospital at the Western Mindanao Command here.

Investigation showed that the bus driven by Mark Louie Lodevice was coming from the west coast and headed towards the city proper when it experienced a brake malfunction.

It picked up speed as it traveled a downward slope and rammed the vehicles. The bus also damaged an electrical concrete post which caused a power outage in the area.

All three vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.
