Kabayan Noli de Castro

Kabayan Noli De Castro highlights action figures made from used rubber slippers, which is the brainchild of a Filipino artist, this Sunday (Sept. 4) in “KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan.”

Due to his family’s financial constraints, Elmer Padilla did not have toys back in his childhood days. Because of this, he took an interest in toys and discovered his knack for creating superhero action figures, like Transformers and Marvel characters, by only using old slippers.

Because of his talent, Elmer was noticed by Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo, who portrayed Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The actor was seen holding Elmer’s Hulk doll creation.

Meanwhile, Kabayan Noli travels to Morong, Rizal to visit a farm which houses 20,000 crocodiles. He learns about the rigorous process of caring for the huge reptiles and how crocodile farming can become a business.

“KBYN” also features an 11-year-old boy from Candaba, Pampanga because of the unbelievable size of his feet. Because of financial difficulty, John Mark Dimla’s parents could not bring him to the doctor for a checkup. However, his condition did not stop him from studying hard and helping his father.
