The Supreme Court (SC) has unveiled the historical marker of the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) as one of the sites of the first ever online and regionalized 2020-2021 Bar examinations.

In a press statement, the SC’s public information office (PIO) said Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen and Associate Justices Ramon Paul L. Hernando and Antonio T. Kho Jr. represented the SC during the ceremony held last Sept. 1 in Davao City.

With the SC justices were Jeremy S. Eliab, AdDU executive vice president; Atty. Jazzie M. Sarona-Lozare, AdDU College of Law assistant dean; Atty. Manuel P. Quibod, AdDu College of Law dean; and Rev. Fr. Joel R. Tabor, S.J., AdDU president.

Justice Leonen was the chairperson of the 2020-2021 Bar examinations committee.

Based on the success of the 2020-2021 Bar examinations, the SC had decided to conduct all incoming Bar examinations online and regionalized.

In his message, Leonen told AdDU officials: “You made ‘The Best Bar Ever’ even more advanced, more accessible, and, more importantly, more compassionate.”

“The historical marker we award and unveil is signed by all the Justices of the Supreme Court. It should hopefully serve as a fitting reminder of what happened here, and an inspiration for those that will come after us,” he added.

Also present during the unveiling ceremony was Deputy Court Administrator Leo T. Madrazo, an AdDU alumnus, who presented a framed Supreme Court 2020/2021 Bar Examinations shirt as a token to his alma mater.

The 2020/2021 Bar examinations were held on Feb. 4 and 6 in 29 testing sites nationwide.

A total of 8,241 of the 11,402 who took and completed the tests passed the examinations.

Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa is the chairperson of the 2022 Bar examinations which will be administered by the SC on Nov. 9, 13, 16, and 20.

Justice Hernando, on the other hand, will be the chairperson of the 2023 bar examinations committee.
