Remains of drowning victim recovered in Negros


BACOLOD CITY – The remains of a 43-year-old woman was retrieved in Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Maao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Sept. 1, three days after she drowned in a river Monday, Aug. 29.

Master Sgt. Erwin Jamandre, Bago City Police Station investigator, said a resident found the remains of Myra Gargaceran, several kilometers away from where she drowned with her 11-year-old daughter.

Gargaceran’s remains were bloated when it was found.

Rescuers responded to the area, along with the victim’s husband, who positively identified his wife.

Gargaceran tried to save her daughter when she tried to retrieve her slippers from the strong river current.

However, both of them drowned. Her daughter was found several hours after the incident.
