The Marikina City local government announced the suspension of all classes in public and private schools in the city on Friday, Sept. 2. due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Henry.
The City Public Information Office (PIO) said the local authorities followed Department of Education (DepEd) Order 37, Series of 2022, issued on Thursday, Sept. 1, stating “the cancellation or suspension of classes and work in schools in the event of disasters and other natural calamities.”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a yellow rainfall warning in Metro Manila at 1:15 p.m on Sept. 2.
According to PAGASA and Marikina City Rescue 161, the yellow warning was declared in Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal.
The warning entails possible flooding in flood-prone areas, according to Rescue 161.
Meanwhile, the orange warning has been issued for Zambales and Bataan. These areas may experience threatening floods, according to the PAGASA advisory.
