Japanese man found dead in Makati condo 


The body of a Japanese man was found near the swimming pool of a condominium located along Arnaiz Avenue, corner Chino Roces Avenue in Pio Del Pilar, Makati City on Thursday morning, Sept. 1.

The Southern Police District (SPD)'s report identified the Japanese national as Takaoka Shigeo.

According to the police, two maintenance workers of the building found a shattered glass panel and the victim's body lying face down at the amenities area on the sixth floor at around 1:20 a.m. The body was found to have "penetrated and went through the glass canopy of the amenities area."

Shigeo was found wearing a color gray Reebok t-shirt and khaki cargo short pants.

Operatives from the San Isidro Police Sub-Station responded to the incident after the maintenance workers alerted the building security.

The police said the victim may have come from the roof deck located on the 48th floor, as per initial investigation.

The building's CCTV footage showed a man emerging from unit 3125 on the 31st floor to the roof deck, wearing the same Reebok shirt Shigeo was found to be wearing.

Authorities found a key to unit 3125 in the victim's pocket.

They also found a blue cellphone placed on a plant box and a black cap near the concrete barricade of the roof deck.
