CPP-NPA finance officer arrested in Roxas City

ILOILO CITY — A finance officer of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Roxas City, the capital of Capiz.

Lenilyn Custorio Jayson was arrested in an integrated military-police operation Friday, Sept. 2.

Combined units of the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) of the Philippine Army and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested the 45-year-old for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosive.

Jayson was the only one arrested out of the three suspects in a warrant issued by Judge Esperanza Isabela Poco-Deslate of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 19 of Roxas City.

Recovered from the possession of Jayson were a .45 Caspian pistol; a caliber .45 Colt pistol; two pieces of magazine assembly for a caliber .45; 82 rounds live ammunition; a unit of MK2 grenade hand fragmentation; a unit of PRB 423 grenade hand fragmentation; and several other personal items.

Jayson, who had aliases “Sandra” or “Elizabeth”, was believed to be one of the top finance officers of the CPP-NPA in Panay Island.

“This will disrupt the CPP-NPA’s extortion scheme in the island,” said Major Gen. Benedict Arevalo, 3ID commanding general.

Arevalo is also optimistic that other key officers in the CPP-NPA will soon be arrested.
