Receptionist in Tagaytay nabbed for pocketing P70K hotel income

TAGAYTAY CITY – A male receptionist in a boutique hotel here who allegedly pocketed the hotel's income was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Investigator-on-case Pat. Emmanuel D. Regalado said the owner of the boutique hotel asked the suspect to deposit their three-day income of P70,845 to the hotel's bank account on Aug. 30.

However, the owner learned the day after that the cash was not deposited.

"Diumano, eh naipadala niya 'dun sa kanyang pamilya, nagastos (Allegedly, he sent it to his family, it was already spent)," Regalado told the Manila Bulletin.

When the suspect failed to return the cash, the hotel owner sought help from the police.

The suspect is now under police custody and is facing a qualified theft charge.
