NAP-YPS is a 10-year plan that aims to strengthen the participation of youth in peacebuilding, governance, and human rights.

"It is also the first youth-led and multi-stakeholder driven national policy on youth, peace, and security in the Philippines," said NYC.

Cardema also highlighted the importance of the youth in "building the future of the country," as per a report from NYC on its Facebook account.

Also present at the event was NYC Commissioner representing Mindanao ASec. Alexa Dayanghirang.

A report by Marianas Variety dated June 17 stated that Justin Keith Baquisal from the National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea helped draft the NAP-YPS in an event attended by various youth leaders, Sangguniang Kabataan officers, and other organizations last May 29 to June 1.
