2 wanted persons arrested by Las Piñas, Pasay police


A 38-year-old man facing 38 counts of qualified theft was arrested in a joint operation conducted by members of the Las Piñas police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) and the Laguna police on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

Col. Jaime Santos, Las Piñas police chief, said the suspect, identified as Lerna Paloma, No. 4 Most Wanted person, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. along Pac 5, Pacita Complex I, San Pedro, Laguna.

Santos said members of the WSS coordinated with the Laguna police on the arrest of Paloma whose former address was in Las Piñas and later escaped to Laguna.

The city police chief said a warrant of arrest for 38 counts of qualified theft issued by Judge Leilani Marie Dacanay-Grimares of Parañaque Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 296 was served against the suspect.

Grimares also recommended a bail of P40,000 each for the 38 counts of qualified theft filed against the suspect.

The suspect was confined at the San Pedro Laguna police custodial facility.

In Pasay City, the No. 2 most wanted person on the Sibat Target list of the police provincial office was arrested in a mall located along FB Harrison Extension corner Ortigas St., around 12:30 p.m.

Col Byron Tabernilla, Pasay City police chief, said the suspect, identified as George Yamit, 44, a driver, was arrested by members of Pantabangan Municipal police station in coordination with members of the Baclaran Sub-Station.

Tabernilla said a warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Leo Cecillo Bautista of Third Judicial Region, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 38 for violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10015 (gun ban violation) and illegal possession of firearms.

The city police chief said Bautista gave the suspect a minimum of one year and 8 years imprisonment and a maximum of 10 years of prison mayor.

Tabernilla said the suspect in now under the custody of the Pantabangan police station.
