PDEA nabs QCPD cop, 2 others in Cagayan Valley buy-bust


Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a policeman assigned at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and two of his alleged cohorts on Monday, Aug. 29, in a buy-bust in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

PDEA Region 2 Director Joel Plaza identified the suspects as Police Corporal Gomer Dacnas, 30, assigned to the QCPD Station 11; Jenwin Mencero, 30; and Joseph Ganab, 31.

The suspects were collared at around 1:15 p.m. in Zone 4, Agusan Extension, Barangay Carig Sur.

Dacnas has been under surveillance and is included in the PDEA’s high-value target roster.

In a report to PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva, Plaza said that the operation was conducted based on the tip provided by their informant and numerous complaints from the community members.

The anti-narcotics team confiscated two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing five grams of shabu, four cellular phones, four lighters, two rolled aluminum foil, one Mitsubishi Strada, and buy-bust money.

Dacnas and the other suspects face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 12, Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’

The operation was carried out by the PDEA 2 Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET) and the PDEA Region 2 Cagayan Provincial Office. (Chito A. Chavez)
