Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan wants tight security to be implemented in schools and universities in the capital city as a deterrent to crime.
Lacuna-Pangan issued the order as she inspected police resources and assets during the launching of OPLAN S.A.F.E. (Seen, Appreciated, Felt, Extraordinary activities of police officers of Manila) at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Monday, Aug. 29.
In her speech, Lacuna-Pangan reminded the police "to ensure public safety and effective maintenance of peace and order within their areas of jurisdiction."
I am expecting high respect for our mandates, having a smooth and clear relationship in our actions will give us a big advantage in delivering effective services to nearly two million Manilans)," she said.
OPLAN S.A.F.E. showcases the Manila Police District's (MPD) resources of 226 motor vehicles and other assets.
Lacuna-Pangan was joined by MPD Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon during the inspection of police assets.
The mayor assured that the city government will support the MPD in its needed resources such as additional police mobiles and motorbikes.
We are always there for you and as long as we can handle it, we will provide all your needs)," Lacuna-Pangan said.
The MPD has 4,043 uniformed and 171 non-uniformed personnel.
