Maguindanao town police chief killed in ambush


The Philippine National Police (PNP) ordered intensified operations against armed men who killed the chief of police of Ampatuan town in Maguindanao in an ambush on Tuesday morning, Aug. 30.

A police report said at least two armed men opened fire at vehicle boarding several policemen who were supposed to serve an arrest warrant.

The incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. in Barangay Kapinpilan in Ampatuan town.

Aside from town police chief Police Lt. Reynaldo Samson, also killed was another policeman who was driving the vehicle.

Police Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, chief of the PNP-Public Information Office, said they have already intensified efforts in running after those responsible in the attack.

"The PNP is still doing follow-up operation regarding this unfortunate event. We will verify the identity of the casualties and surely we will bring justice to the death of our comrades," said Alba.
