9 passengers, 3 crew members injured due to severe turbulence; PAL apologizes

The Philippine Airlines (PAL) has apologized to the passengers of a Los Angeles-Manila flight who were reportedly injured when the flight encountered severe turbulence two hours before the landing on Sunday, Aug. 28.

The incident resulted in the injury of nine passengers and three crew members.

In a statement, PAL said they immediately took the injured victims to the hospital.

"We are in the process of reaching out to the affected passengers and coordinating passenger wellness. This turbulence was not detectable on the aircraft’s onboard weather radar system, hence there was no advance warning," the PAL statement read.

"We affirm that safety is our top priority and that Philippine Airlines is fully cooperating with the concerned airport and aviation authorities," it added.
