DSWD: 1,687 students in Negros Occidental receive cash aid, payout systematic, organized


BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Monday, Aug. 29, that 1,687 students in crisis in Negros Occidental received educational assistance totaling P5,306,000 during the second payout Saturday, Aug. 27.

Two-hundred seventy-six were elementary pupils, 194 were high school students, 226 were senior high school students, and 991 were college students.

Thy were part of the 7,852 students who received a total of P22,786,000 in educational assistance from the DSWD in Western Visayas Saturday.

Merle Garcia, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, said the payout was very organized and systematic.

The payout centers in Negros Occidental were in San Carlos City for the first district, Cadiz City for the second district, Silay City for the third district, Bago City for the fourth district, Himamaylan City for the fifth district, Kabankalan City for the sixth district, and SM City Bacolod for residents here.

Garcia reiterated the reminder of the DSWD that walk-ins are not allowed to go to the payout centers in the next payout schedules.

Only those who have registered online and have received a message of confirmation from the DSWD regional office will be allowed to join the next payout, she said.

Payout schedule next month is Sept. 3, 10, 17, and 24, all Saturdays.
