1,500 residents benefit from Cash-for-Work program in Muntinlupa  


The Muntinlupa City government held the orientation for its Cash-for-Work Program that will give temporary employment to 1,500 residents.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon attended the orientation of the beneficiaries of the program, an initiative of the city government through the Social Services Department, Community Affairs and Development Office, DA Extension Services Office, City Security Office, Engineering Department, Public Order and Safety Office, and People’s Coordinating Office in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region.

“Layunin nitong makapagbigay ng temporary employment sa mga Muntinlupeño para makatulong sa kanilang kabuhayan (This aims to give temporary employment to Muntinlupeños to help them in their livelihood),” the mayor said.

Biazon said the 1,500 beneficiaries will work for 10 days in different areas such as cleaning drainage and rivers and doing urban gardening.

According to an administrative order issued by the DSWD, the Cash-for-Work Program “is a short-term intervention to provide temporary employment to distressed/ displaced individuals by participating in or undertaking preparedness, mitigation, relief, rehabilitation or risk reduction projects and activities in their communities or in evacuation centers.”

“Work areas/programs are identified by the community under the leadership of local leaders. In exchange for the work rendered, program recipients are provided with cash to meet their requirement for food and other basic necessities. Cash-for-Work may be undertaken before, during, or after the occurrence of any disaster whether natural or man-made. Implementation of the Cash-for-Work shall be managed by the LGUs' social welfare and development offices in coordination with the DSWD field offices,” according to the memo.
