Heaven Peralejo on backlash over acne post: 'I don’t even know why I have to explain myself'

Sexy actress Heaven Peralejo recently opened up about her ongoing battle with acne.

On her social media account, she uploaded photos of herself, writing, "Just a daily reminder that having acne is nothing to be ashamed of!"

According to Heaven, she's been battling acne for years.

"I had a hard time accepting my skin because it just got worse to the point that it also affects my body weight," she related.

"I was so scared to be judged especially in the industry I’m part of. And then I realized that the problem is with those people who criticize you for being human."

Now she's more open to embracing her flaws.

"Never let anyone make you feel bad about yourself because of normal things! Love yourself and take care of yourself," she told her followers.

Though it's such an inspiring message, some online users seemingly didn't like it, tagging the post as "toxic positivity."

One wrote: "And what's really annoying is yun caption is about acne pero yun photos nakabikini at clearskin? Like anong connect nun?"

Another added: "How can she empower something na di naman nya na experience? Saying you relate to people with acne by having 2 occasional pimples is not the same. Wag sya mag feeling ng pinagdadaanan ng may acne kase she doesn't know anything how it feels."

Heaven then quickly edited her post, adding a "postscript."

It read: "PS Everybody gets breakouts whether small or big and it’s just so unreasonable to make someone feel bad about something they’re already insecure about."

She related that what she shared are just some of a few pictures she has, in which her acne scars are somewhat visible.

"Believe me, I’ve experienced worse but I never had the confidence to accept it not until now," she reiterated.

"I don’t even know why I have to explain myself but it’s just so ridiculous that even the size of my acne is being bashed by some."
