"We have to change the landscape. Shared prosperity is not a dream, it is a must that we have to do," Concepcion said in his speech during the MSME Summit 2022 at the Manila Hotel on Friday, Aug. 26.

Concepcion, who is also a member of the Private Sector Advisory Council’s (PSAC) formed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., underscored that helping the MSMEs and elevating their lives would eventually generate more job opportunities for the people.

So, he encouraged the big corporations, dubbed as "big brothers" in the private sector, and financial institutions to "step up and reach out" to micro entrepreneurs as they try to grow their businesses.

"To all our financial institutions, our bankers here, let us support our micro entrepreneurs to succeed. Mentorship, money, and market is the basic formula for success," Concepcion said.

"Hopefully, our financial community would step up and really reach out and help our MSMEs...So, as we big corporations mentor, whether to management skills or technology, they will have a better chance for the banks to lend them money, especially if the market is there," Concepcion added.

The Go Negosyo founder further said that leveling the playing field is the challenge the business sector is facing now, stressing that "if we want to make the Philippines a much better place for us, we have to do our part."

"And I know, deep in your heart, you all want to do it," he said.

"The circle of success, in which all of you in this room are there, is what we have to do. When you help people and make them successful, these same people that you will help to become successful, will help others," he added.

"So, as we continue that circle of success, then we will truly achieve an inclusive Philippines," he concluded.

The first MSME summit was designed to foster strategic dialogue where different people from various industries can exchange ideas and insights in establishing pandemic-proof strategies for post-Covid business recovery and cultivate entrepreneurship through mentorship, money, and market to ensure an enabling environment for the recovery of MSMEs in particular and the business community in general.
