407 Abra lawmen affected by temblor receive financial aid


BANGUED, Abra – Four-hundred and seven policemen affected by the magnitude-7 earthquake in this province last month have been given financial assistance by their colleagues from different parts of the country.

The donors' contributions reached P7,296,227.

Records of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera-Regional Comptrollership Division (RCD) said the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 was able to donate P2 million; PRO-7, P1,904,143; PRO-2, P1,054,950; PRO-Bansangmoro Autonomous Region, P600,000; PRO-8, P421,971; PRO-9, P375,000; PRO-5, P239,500; PRO 4-B, P200,000; PRO-10, P168,767; PNP Finance Service, P141,000; PRO-12, P140,331; CIDG Cordillera, P15,000; CIDG RFU-1, P12,000; DIDM, P10,465; Maritime Group, P10,000; and RCEU 4-A, P3,100.

Food packs amounting to P337,000 were also given by the PRO 4-A.

During the official visit of Police Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, PRO-Cordillera director, to the Abra Provincial Police Office here Thursday, Aug. 25, he commended and awarded medals to the 407 affected police officers and distributed the financial assistance.

Bazar said six personnel who reported that their houses were destroyed were given P100,000 each while 29 personnel who reported major damages to their properties will receive P50,000 each. Three-hundred seventy-eight other personnel who reported minor damages to their homes will receive P13,613 each.

"The ‘bayanihan’ spirit among the PNP personnel is alive and thriving. With the help of our brothers and sisters in the service, our recovery will be easier. Thank you for your donations and thank you for your prayers," Bazar said.

Aside from police personnel, P100,000 was given to the Bangued Municipal Police Station. The money will be used for their orderly transfer to their temporary office at the Oval Area in Zone 2 here.
