The police arrested a most wanted person and an alleged member of a criminal group in Taguig on Monday, Aug. 22.
In Central Bicutan, the Taguig police’s Warrant and Subpoena Unit led manhunt operations that resulted in the arrest of Aries Calla, 30.
According to the police, Calla is listed as the top 3 most wanted person in the third quarter of 2022 in the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), top 1 most wanted person of the Southern Police District for the third quarter of 2022 and top 2 most wanted person of Taguig police for the third quarter of the year.
Calla is wanted for murder and a warrant of arrest was issued by Presiding Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 on May 26.
He is now detained at the custodial facility of Taguig police pending the issuance of a commitment order by the court.
Meanwhile, the Taguig police arrested an alleged member of a criminal group when he was caught in possession of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) during an “Oplan Galugad” conducted along Sitio Imelda in Barangay Upper Bicutan on Aug. 22.
The police identified the suspect as Gilbert Santiago, 46, who is tagged by the police as an alleged member of the John Loyd Busa merging with Loloy Fernandez criminal gang, which is responsible for a series of robbery incidents and proliferation of illegal drugs in Taguig City particularly in Barangays Maharlika, Upper and Central Bicutan, and Signal Village.
Seized from him was one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu weighing 5.33 grams with a value of P36,244.
The recovered evidence was turned over to SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis while the suspect will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
"Their arrests are the result of extensive manhunt and surveillance operations being initiated by combined units to bring fugitives to the fold of justice and answer for the crimes that were committed,” said SPD acting director Col. Kirby John Kraft.
