Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the city is ready for the return of face-to-face classes, which will start today, Aug. 22.
“After two years of limited face-to-face classes, the reopening of schools will be a big adjustment for students, teachers, and parents alike. This is the reason why your City Government and Schools Division Office (SDO) have been working tirelessly to ensure a safe return to on-site classroom teaching. Ready na tayo para sa pasukan (We are ready for the reopening of schools),” Biazon said.
The preparations include the distribution of 26,500 tablets for learners and 2,557 laptops for teachers, the commissioning of science and speech laboratories, the provision of risograph machines and photocopiers for mass printing instructional materials, and the deployment of school nurses, utility and security personnel to schools, all made possible through the city government’s Special Education Fund (SEF).
Biazon also cited the holding of vaccination caravans and the provision of antigen testing kits through the City Health Office to keep the spread of Covid-19 in check, while also addressing mental health concerns through adequate training of school and health personnel.
In addition, the preparations also include the provision and deployment of disinfection machines, the training of high school students for emergency response, and overall command center monitoring by the Department of Disaster Resilience and Management, while the City’s Engineering Department oversaw the repainting of crosswalks and pedestrian lanes to ensure the safety of students on the road.
“Mga Batang Munti, paalala na mag-aral nang mabuti at sundin ang health protocols. Matulog nang maaga para full energy sa eskwela (Study well and follow the health protocols. Get enough sleep to have full energy for the school activities),” said Biazon.
