‘Bahala na ang Diyos,’ wife tells police over death of husband

CAGAYAN – ‘Bahala na ang Dios.’

A wife made the retort as she declared on Saturday, Aug. 20, that she is no longer interested in pursuing the case of her husband who was murdered in NIA road of Brgy. Bulagao, Tuao.

The Cagayan Police Provincial Office said Leonita and her children voluntarily executed an Affidavit of Disinterest in pursuing the filing of a case. The decision, Police Major Jhun Jhun Balisi, officer-in-charge in Tuao Police Station, said was ‘beyond police control.’

About 6:30 in the evening on of Aug. 3, Leonita’s husband, Fernando Masam, 61, and a resident of Macapil, Piat, Cagayan was shot dead along the NIA road, Brgy. Bulagao, Tuao, Cagayan.

Police said that based on Leonita’s declaration, her husband had told her that his life was in danger.

Leonita said her husband had often mentioned the name of a certain Eliazar Domingo, the suspect in the shooting incident together with John Does.

However, Leonita and her children voluntarily executed an Affidavit of Disinterest duly subscribed by Atty. Nelson C Villaflor, Notary Public, and made a manifestation to just give to God all of what happened to her husband.
