PBBM keen on sports development

Bowling legend Olivia “Bong” Coo revealed how keen President “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was to focus on developing Philippine sports during her oathtaking at the Malacañang Palace last week.

The appointed commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission said she had a "casual and relaxed" conversation with the President who expressed interest in the status of sports and to continue the developments made by the previous administration.

Coo detailed her day-to-day work since assuming office and guaranteed the President that the allowances of the national athletes and coaches were duly signed.

“It’s a different task (with) a lot of learning. But I’m confident because as I have mentioned, I have the best team ever that is behind me so I’m not worried at all,” said Coo in a Facebook live during the PSC Hour on Friday, August 19.

Coo also shared that the renovation of different training venues, which were used by the Inter-Agency Task Force as quarantine facilities during the start of the pandemic, have been recently turned over back to their responsibility. Some of the venues have been fixed and ready for use by September 30 as the athletes prepare for the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next year. (NIKOLE JAVIER)
